This morning was fantastic. I started off my morning having cuddles with Dad, who shared bite-sized pieces of his bagel with me as well. Then, Mom tied me up in the backyard. She was going in and out doing laundry, and I was able to buck out of my harness when she looked at me from the upstairs window. I faked sleep, and she continued on with her household chores.
She eventually realized I’d gone and with Dad’s help tracked me down in the neighbour’s backyard. They put me back in the harness again and tied me up again. Those silly humans, it wasn’t that I’d accidentally wrapped the cord around the umbrella. I wanted to break free. Don’t they know how hard it is to walk the same grass over and over again?
Mom kept an eye on me for a while, but then the neighbour came over to talk to Dad so she decided to go over and say hi. I knew I could make my break when she started talking about neighbourhood gossip. I wrapped the cord around one of the shrubs, then bucked out. Initially I looked over to Radar’s side of the yard. Then I thought to myself that I’d trick them and head over to the “Mike” side. It took them a while before they’d realized I’d escaped again.
It was a great run up the kitty highway that snakes through the backyards between Island Park and Piccadilly. The squirrels take the “high road” along the wires, and cats creep along under the cedar hedges. Eventually they caught up with me. Shaking the big tin of dry food and the small bag of cat treats got my attention. But it was the incessant whistling that drove me mad enough to come home.
I was punished by being thrown inside the house, but not before I got two cat treats. I think they’ll let me out again because it’s the weekend. I hope so.
